it is an early Saturday morning, almost 5:30am and the first thing I could reach from my bed is my little radio which I had always kept at the right corner of my bed. BBC Africa report is my favorite for the dawn. It is interesting for me to know what is going on in the continent before I begin my activities for the day. A nice African tune was playing as I switched on the radio, the broadcaster clears his throat and the news he reads; " The headlines. rebels have attacked and killed civilians crossing the Congo-Angolan boarder to Cabinda. Kofi Anan meets Odinga and Kibaki for peace talk. war at the Niger delta, 3 oil prospecting engineers killed. President Mugabe wins Zimbabwean elections. opposition leader rejects result, saying elections have been rigged by the incumbent government. AU summit begins today at the capital city of Ghana, Accra. leaders to discuss African unity." oh! same old stories. I switched off the radio. I wasn't by the way expecting anything else apart from these heartbreaking stories all the time. I had not forgotten I live in Africa anyway. African politics has never been interesting. All that leaders do is to wear expensive black suits sit in expensive cars and meet to discuss unimportant issues. we have witnessed enough political monopolization, self aggrandizement and corruption to declare this continent as a land of many garbage leaders. A nation is built by simple wisdom and understanding. Ancestors have fought hard and victory for us. freedom! freedom! freedom! Kwame Nkrumah said on the 7th of march 1957 as he stood on that noble platform declaring independence. It is over I suppose mandela said when the war against apathy was brought to an end. What is the way forward? What must we do to help build this continent? Can our dreams be achieved with cocaine dealing, bribery hooding, nepotism leading and hatred of truthness?
To the black suit gang, black leaders with a dark vision. Oh! mother africa, we have suffered so much under clouds of ignorance and superstition and worse still falling into the pit of missery by the reckless supervision of a bunch of greedy fools year after year. Independence was the mission but has turned out to be the worse decision ever. why not allow the white man to rule the world when africa was still nursing it's politics? over fifty years and africa is still not ready to govern it's own affairs. Kwame Nkrumah has been proven wrong by his own people. africa is not ready. our politics has greatly wounded the right of the poor and the innocent to a peaceful living. The black man is in exigence fight for power and wealth within a continent of absolute poverty. There are so many perilious people out there, who cannot afford a skimpy meal a day yet those arrogant and greedy bustards meet to eat and drink as if there was nothing at stake. The african leader lives for himself and the family only. Oh! what a pity! When great men like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Nelson Mandela were thinking of africa in 100 years and beyond, stupid ones like Charles Taylor and others were thinking of how to overthrow a goverment for their own selfish desires. Rebels pick the gun to devastate nations, the cause of our many afflictions but we seek to show no affection. For how long should we keep on begging? And for how long should we keep on crying of diseases and poverty? Awake! leaders of mother africa, awake! there is so much weariness and suffering within. Africa is indeed a land gifted with so much natural resources but with little to do with. why? because almost everybody is refusing to think and averybody lives for himself, the stupid gods for us all. The masses movenent is towards riches. Many are fighting for what they cannot have now, leaving others in the desperate wilderness and poverty strickened. So how will crime cease? The most disappointing of all is that the youth is also in direct path of the elder generation. So when at all will africa be ready for change? We live in a continent where laws are made for the poor. The rich buys the verdict so who are you, poor man to win in court? Plead for mercy if you are poor and in trouble even when not guilty. Article 10 of the constitution of the NDC, a political party in ghana says, "if you don't have properties you are not human and if you don't have money you canot take part in decisions affecting your life." So what would you expect if such party rules. It has absolutely nothing to offer the poor. Funny enough, this party rules today. Former president John Kuffour of ghana wants 6 cars, two houses and millions of dollars as ex-gratia for serving the nation for eight years when pupils sit under trees to learn, somewhere in the northern part of the country and the roads are still crooked, food stuffs are getting rotten in the farm, fuel prices are rising and the whole economy is in shambles. Hard times, they say, but they tax the pauper and leave the affluent. Do we love to see our brothers suffer? Have we lost our sense of affection? Or we were never created to feel for humankind? I differ in that respect if your answer is yes. We have been so much wounded by dirty politics and hence seriously bleeding corruption. They misuse state owned properties, embezle money and make themselves richer whiles the poor is still getting poorer. They deceive many to go to the polls because of illiteracy and they are never ready to educate the illiterate. If they do, whom are they to deceive again. The land is sick. it is sick of wrong leadership, greediness, war, and poverty, the biggest disease of all times.change your character, know your GOD and love your neighbour. put a change in place now! feed the stavering, educate better, have trust in the people, love your country and take a heed to the needy. awake! africa awake!
